LSWA, Lake Singletary Watershed Association

LSWA, The Lake Singletary Watershed Association Board of Directors is an organized group of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy into the preservation of Lake Singletary.  It is through their hard work that the lake continues to remain a treasure for all to enjoy.

LSWA board of directors is always looking for volunteers to assist in several ongoing projects, including weed treatment, assistance with grant applications. To volunteer please go to the Contact Us page.

New members frequently ask what LSWA has accomplished in its 20-year history. The most difficult challenge we face is protecting the long-term health of our lake. Development pressures in the watershed, new shoreline development, and increased recreational use all threaten water quality if not managed properly. Negative impacts on the ecosystem, aesthetics, and property values are potentially severe if we do not remain vigilant.

After years of work, our association now has three important documents we can use to help protect our lake: the 1991 Diagnostic Study of Singletary Lake, the 1995 Singletary Lake Management Plan, and the recently-completed 2000 Wastewater Facilities Plan for the Lake Singletary Watershed. Much of the funding for this work came from member support, along with state grants and matching funds from the towns of Sutton and Millbury. We will use these documents to support future grant applications for water quality improvement projects for our lake. Continued member support is crucial for success.
